Spex Privacy Policy

How Spex handles your data

Spex is an iPhone app, with an Apple Watch companion, that lets you know when camera-carrying smart glasses are advertising over Bluetooth nearby. Detection runs entirely on your iPhone. Spex has no user accounts and no backend server of its own.

Information we collect

Spex does not collect any personal data that can identify you. The app has no account, no sign-in and no analytics. The Bluetooth signals Spex hears, its detections, your history and your Your Circle list stay on your device and are never sent to us or anyone else. The one exception concerns in-app purchases, described under Purchases below.

Bluetooth and permissions

Spex listens passively for the public Bluetooth broadcasts that smart glasses send. It never connects to, pairs with or transmits to any device. Spex asks only for Bluetooth access and permission to send notifications, which you can change at any time in the iOS Settings app. It does not access your location, camera, microphone, contacts or photos.

Purchases

Spex offers one optional in-app purchase, Spex Pro, a one-time purchase handled entirely by Apple — we never see your payment details.

To check and restore Spex Pro, the app uses RevenueCat, acting as our data processor. RevenueCat receives an anonymous identifier generated by the app, basic technical information such as your country, platform and app version, your App Store transaction receipt if you make or restore a purchase, and an Apple Search Ads attribution token showing which ad campaign, if any, led to the download. This happens each time the app starts, even if you never buy Spex Pro. None of it is linked to your identity or used to track you, and RevenueCat never receives any Bluetooth data or information about how you use the app.

Third parties and data sharing

Spex uses no analytics, advertising or tracking SDKs. RevenueCat, as described above, is the only third-party service. We do not sell, rent or share any personal information.

Children's privacy

Spex is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your rights

You can erase your history and Your Circle in the app, or uninstall Spex to remove everything it has stored. The purchase record held by RevenueCat is tied only to an anonymous identifier, so we cannot link it to you or single it out on request. Apple keeps its own record of App Store transactions under its own privacy policy.
