Rafterly Privacy Policy

How Rafterly handles your data

Rafterly is an iOS and iPadOS roof-framing calculator. Enter a span and a pitch and it returns rafter lengths, plumb and seat cuts, ridge height and a fully dimensioned technical drawing for gable, shed, hip (with valleys) and gambrel roofs, plus a built-in inclinometer for measuring an existing roof's pitch. Everything is calculated on your device. Rafterly has no user accounts and no backend server of its own.

Information we collect

Rafterly does not collect, store or transmit any personal data that can identify you. The app has no account, no sign-in and no analytics. The spans, pitches and other measurements you enter, the drawings and cut lists Rafterly produces, and the tilt readings used by the inclinometer all stay on your device and are never sent to us. We do not collect your location, any device or advertising identifiers, or any usage history. For in-app purchases, RevenueCat processes transactions and uses an anonymous app identifier to validate and restore purchases. We only receive your Pro entitlement status.

How Rafterly handles your measurements

All of Rafterly's calculations run locally on your device. When you use the inclinometer, the app reads your device's orientation from its motion sensors using Apple's Core Motion framework and converts it to a pitch reading in real time. These readings are shown live on screen and are not recorded or transmitted. Nothing you enter or measure ever leaves your device.

Permissions

Rafterly requests no special permissions. The inclinometer reads the device's motion sensors, which on iOS does not require a permission prompt, and those readings are used only on your device. Rafterly does not access your location, camera, contacts, photos or microphone. When you export or share a PDF cut sheet, it is generated on your device and handed to the standard iOS share sheet, where you choose what to do with it.

What is stored on your device

Rafterly stores only your own content locally — the projects you save (each roof's inputs and results), your measurement and pitch-unit preferences, and basic app settings — using the standard iOS storage in the app's own container. There is no user account and no cloud sync. You can remove this data at any time by deleting a saved project inside the app, or by uninstalling the app from your device.

Analytics and third-party services

Rafterly does not use any third-party analytics, advertising SDKs or tracking technologies. We use RevenueCat only to manage in-app purchases. The app uses Apple's Core Motion framework to read your device's orientation for the inclinometer; these readings stay on your device. No data is sent to us or to any third party for analytics.

In-app purchases

Rafterly offers a one-time Pro purchase that unlocks the hip & valley and gambrel calculators, PDF cut-sheet export and saved projects. When you purchase or restore Pro, RevenueCat processes the transaction and uses an anonymous app-specific identifier to associate the purchase with your app installation. Purchase history data is used for app functionality (receipt validation and restore) and analytics (purchase status in our RevenueCat dashboard). This data is not linked to your identity and is not used to track you across apps. No device identifiers or advertising identifiers are collected.

Data sharing

Because everything stays on your device, we have no data about you to share, and we do not sell or rent any personal information — none is collected in the first place. For purchases, limited information is shared with RevenueCat (such as the anonymous identifier and purchase status) to validate transactions and enable restore.

Children's privacy

Rafterly is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your rights

Because we do not collect or store any personal data on our servers, there is no personal information for us to access, modify or delete. If you wish to remove everything Rafterly has stored, you can delete your saved projects in the app and uninstall it from your device.
