How Plonk handles your data
Plonk is an offline iOS utility that helps you find the right TV size for your room. You can visualise sizes at scale, place a TV outline on a real wall using augmented reality, and get viewing-distance recommendations. The app works without an internet connection and has no backend server.
Plonk does not collect, store or transmit any personal data that can identify you. All settings and inputs (selected diagonal, aspect ratio, units, seating distance) are stored locally on your device and are not sent to any server controlled by us. For in-app purchases, RevenueCat processes transactions and uses an anonymous app identifier to validate and restore purchases. We only receive your Pro entitlement status.
Plonk asks for camera access only when you open the AR Placement feature, so ARKit can detect a wall and overlay a virtual TV outline at the correct scale. The camera feed is processed live on your device and is never recorded, stored, or transmitted by the app. If you tap the shutter button to save a snapshot, the app asks for permission to add the resulting image to your Photos library; Plonk never reads your existing photos.
Plonk stores only minimal app settings (such as your last selected diagonal, aspect ratio, units preference, last seating distance, session count and Pro entitlement flag) locally on your device using the standard iOS preferences store. There is no user account and no cloud sync.
Plonk does not use third-party analytics, advertising SDKs or tracking technologies. We use RevenueCat only to manage in-app purchases. The app uses Apple's ARKit, RealityKit and Photos frameworks to detect walls, render the TV outline and save snapshots locally; no data from these frameworks leaves your device.
Plonk offers a one-time Pro purchase that unlocks the AR placement, viewing-distance calculator and additional aspect ratios. When you purchase or restore Pro, RevenueCat processes the transaction and uses an anonymous app-specific identifier to associate the purchase with your app installation. Purchase history data is used for app functionality (receipt validation and restore) and analytics (purchase status in our RevenueCat dashboard). This data is not linked to your identity and is not used to track you across apps. No device identifiers or advertising identifiers are collected.
Because all of your data stays on your device, we do not share your settings, inputs, camera feed or AR snapshots with any third party. For purchases, limited information is shared with RevenueCat (such as the anonymous identifier and purchase status) to validate transactions and enable restore. If you save an AR snapshot, the image is written to your Photos library on your device and is shared only by you, using your device's normal sharing controls.
Plonk is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Because we do not collect or store personal data on our servers, there is no personal information for us to access, modify or delete. If you wish to remove locally stored settings, you can uninstall the app from your device. AR snapshots saved to Photos remain in your Photos library and can be deleted from there at any time.
