AeroRegs is an iOS and iPadOS reference app for United States federal aviation regulations. It bundles the complete Federal Aviation Regulations (14 CFR) and selected 49 CFR parts, the Aeronautical Information Manual (AIM) and the Pilot/Controller Glossary, so you can read, search and annotate them fully offline. All content is stored on your device. AeroRegs has no user accounts and no backend server of its own; the only cloud service it can use is your own iCloud, and only if you turn on annotation sync.
Information we collect
AeroRegs does not collect, store or transmit any personal data that can identify you. The app has no account, no sign-in and no usage analytics. What you read, the searches you run, and the highlights, notes and bookmarks you create all stay on your device and are never sent to us. We do not collect your location, your contacts, your photos, or any device or advertising identifiers, and we do not build any usage history. The one limited exception, described below, is in-app purchase validation, which is handled by RevenueCat rather than by us.
How AeroRegs handles your reading and notes
All reading, full-text search and annotation run locally on your device against the content bundled inside the app. The highlights, notes, bookmarks, and reading position you create are stored on your device. If you choose to turn on iCloud sync (see below), those annotations are also stored in your own private iCloud account so they appear on your other devices. Nothing you read, search or write is ever sent to us.
iCloud sync (optional)
AeroRegs offers an optional setting to sync your highlights, notes and bookmarks across your own iPhone and iPad. This setting is turned off by default. When you turn it on, your annotations are synced through your personal iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit private database. That data is stored in your own iCloud storage under your Apple Account and is governed by Apple's privacy policy. We do not have access to it, we never receive your annotations, and there is no separate account or sign-up. You can turn iCloud sync off at any time in the app's Settings.
Permissions
AeroRegs requests no special permissions. It does not access your location, camera, contacts, photos, microphone or motion sensors. When you print, export or share a section, the document is generated on your device and handed to the standard iOS share sheet, where you choose what to do with it. Using iCloud sync relies on the iCloud account already configured on your device and requires no additional permission prompt from AeroRegs.
What is stored on your device
AeroRegs stores only your own content locally — your highlights, notes and bookmarks, your last reading position, and your display and app preferences (such as text size and light/dark appearance) — using the standard iOS storage in the app's own container. You can remove this data at any time by deleting individual highlights, notes or bookmarks inside the app, or by uninstalling the app from your device. If you enabled iCloud sync, deleting an item in the app also removes it from your iCloud copy.
Analytics and third-party services
AeroRegs does not use any third-party analytics or tracking SDKs. We use RevenueCat only to manage in-app purchases, and we use Apple's CloudKit framework to sync your annotations through your own iCloud when you enable it. Neither is used to profile you or to track you across other companies' apps or websites.
In-app purchases
AeroRegs offers a one-time Pro purchase that unlocks its Pro features. When you purchase or restore Pro, RevenueCat processes the transaction and uses an anonymous app-specific identifier to associate the purchase with your app installation. Purchase history data is used for app functionality (receipt validation and restore) and analytics (purchase status in our RevenueCat dashboard). This data is not linked to your identity and is not used to track you across apps. No device identifiers or advertising identifiers are collected.
Data sharing
Because your reading, searches and notes stay on your device, we have no such data about you to share, and we do not sell or rent any personal information — none is collected in the first place. For purchases, limited information (such as the anonymous identifier and purchase status) is shared with RevenueCat to validate transactions and enable restore. If you enable iCloud sync, your annotations are stored in your own iCloud account and handled by Apple under your Apple Account.
Children's privacy
AeroRegs is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your rights
Because we do not collect or store any personal data on our servers, there is no personal information for us to access, modify or delete. If you wish to remove everything AeroRegs has stored, you can delete your highlights, notes and bookmarks in the app, turn off iCloud sync, and uninstall the app from your device. Annotations kept in your own iCloud account can also be managed through your Apple Account settings.
