How AerialPoint handles your data
AerialPoint is an offline iOS app that helps you find and align to nearby Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) transmitter towers. The app ships with a bundled database of public broadcast transmitter data and works without an internet connection.
AerialPoint does not collect, store or transmit any personal data that can identify you. The app does not have a backend server. Your location, device heading, tilt readings and any towers you view stay on your device and are never sent to us. For in-app purchases, RevenueCat processes transactions and uses an anonymous app identifier to validate and restore purchases. We only receive your Pro entitlement status.
AerialPoint asks for "When In Use" location access so it can find transmitters near you and compute the bearing from your current position to each tower. The app also reads device heading and tilt from the motion sensors so the compass and bubble level can show you which way to point your aerial. None of this data leaves your device.
AerialPoint stores only minimal app settings (such as your selected country, units preference and onboarding state) locally on your device. The bundled transmitter database is read-only and shipped inside the app.
AerialPoint does not use third-party analytics, advertising SDKs or tracking technologies. We use RevenueCat only to manage in-app purchases. The app uses Apple's Core Location and Core Motion frameworks to read your location and device orientation locally; these readings stay on your device.
AerialPoint offers a one-time Pro purchase that unlocks the compass and alignment features. When you purchase or restore Pro, RevenueCat processes the transaction and uses an anonymous app-specific identifier to associate the purchase with your app installation. Purchase history data is used for app functionality (receipt validation and restore) and analytics (purchase status in our RevenueCat dashboard). This data is not linked to your identity and is not used to track you across apps. No device identifiers or advertising identifiers are collected.
The app's transmitter database is built from publicly available sources: Ofcom (United Kingdom), the Bundesnetzagentur and dvb-t2hd.de (Germany), ANFR via data.gouv.fr (France) and the FCC Licensing and Management System (United States). Source attribution is shown in the in-app Data Sources screen. No personal data is contained in this database.
Because all of your data stays on your device, we do not share your location, heading or any other personal data with any third party. For purchases, limited information is shared with RevenueCat (such as the anonymous identifier and purchase status) to validate transactions and enable restore.
AerialPoint is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Because we do not collect or store personal data on our servers, there is no personal information for us to access, modify or delete. If you wish to remove locally stored settings, you can uninstall the app from your device.
